The Village Hall has been described by many visitors who are astounded by the size of the building once inside as a 'Tardis'.

 

GROUND FLOOR

 

Reception/General Office This is the hub of the Village Hall where all enquiries are dealt with.  Social and meeting room bookings are made here.  Courses are arranged and booked from this office with all the publicity that accompanies them also being designed here.


The Computer Room was totally updated in 2011 with new computer software being installed and an interactive smartboard.  In 2014 the Village Hall received funding from Awards4All to install WiFi throughout the building and lessons are held for members of the Community to bring in their own laptops, tablets etc to learn how to use the internet on equipment familiar to them using the WiFi.


Mapplewell and Staincross Library The Library has been situated in the hall since 2002 and is very popular with members of the local community. The Library, Darton Children’s Centre and the Village Hall all work in partnership to organise a toddler group on a Tuesday morning.  The Village Hall has recently received a £1,000 funding to purchase new toys for the group from the Darton East Ward Alliance Fund.


Barnsley Connects Service situated within the Library Area of the Hall offers members of the Community access to Council services in their own locality. Issues dealt with can range from renewing Blue Badges to complaints about noisy neighbours.

Kozee Kids Nursery is a private full/part day nursery. The Nursery can hold 42 Children at any one time. It has a dedicated staff team and provides an excellent facility for youngsters in the local area.

Around the back of the Hall is a studio/workshop which has had one occupier since its inception.  Previously used as an Arts Studio this is a unique opportunity to rent such a prestigious unit which contains a storeroom, kitchen area, disabled toilet facility and large open work area.  The front has a double glazed unit with double doors and windows which are covered by an electric shutter when the unit is closed.  The studio has its own gas central heating unit and alarm system making it completely self-contained yet benefiting from the services offered within the Village Hall including Café, meeting rooms, fax, photocopying and reception services.

AT THE REAR OF THE BUILDING


To the rear of the Village Hall is a Rifle Club that has been there for around 60 years. The Club has 3 shooting ranges and opens most evenings.
